What Is a Rubber Duck Race?
Do you know a rubber duck? Maybe yours lives in your bathtub. Maybe you pay it no mind as it as it floats quietly by the soap.
But get a few ducks together and watch out. They're fierce competitors. One could win you a big prize, and all help out needy causes.
Imagine not one duck, not a dozen ducks, but hundreds of them racing (floating gently, really) down a massive river (it's kind of a stream) towards a finish line where you (and hundreds of other humans like you) cheer on your adopted duck hoping it will finish first and you win the Big Prize.
Here's how you can participate:
Purchase a raffle ticket with a corresponding number printed on a little rubber duck, just like the one in your bathtub. The ducks are placed in the river at the starting line and they float down the river to the finish line.
Almost a thousand ducks raced last year and the first 130 ducks that crossed the finish line won a prize. Last year’s prize list was valued at over $11,000.
Besides the race, the day is filled with many free games and prizes for the kids along with free face painting and lots of food and drinks for purchase. The proceeds from this event will go to the many charities that the Knights of Columbus support.
